The revival of toile de Jouy
Become an essential furnishing textiles, toile de Jouy has since never really disappeared from our homes. You probably know the toile de Jouy, the so-called Indian cotton fabric on which are represented with sets of characters and landscapes. The drawings are mostly monochrome, red or purple or dark brown ecru background but can be broken down in other colors, pink, light blue or navy, green or light or dark beige or gray.
Originally, the painting was created with rustic motifs in the workshops of the factory founded in 1759 by Christophe-Philippe Oberkampf in the village of Jouy-en-Josas (Yvelines). If the toile de Jouy is Wall fountains still relevant today is that it also managed to break free. Once confined to upholstery, it ventures today supports novel: dishes, furniture of all kinds, cushions, lamps. For those who want to know more, know that there is a museum in toile de Jouy in Jouy Cheau d'Eglantine-en-Josas.
